Molybdic Acid:
H2MoO4 H2O; mol. wt. 179.98. Mo 53.32%, MoO3 79.98%. Anhydrous form 89.99%, H2O 10.06%. For the anhydrous: Mo 59.24%, MoO3 88.88%, H 1.24%. Can also be obtained without H2O.
White powder. d. 3.1. Sparingly soluble in cold, more in hot water;
soluble in NH4OH, H2SO4, fixed alkalies.
Molybdic Acid:
White or slightly yellow powder. Insoluble or partly soluble in water; soluble in ammonia or solns. of fixed alkali hydroxides.
Use: Principally for the determination of phosphorus or phosphate and lead; also in glazes for ceramics.
