As long as I can remember, I've enjoyed taking pictures. One of these days, I'll
actually go ahead and buy a decent SLR camera. Until then, I'll satisfy my shutter-bug urges
with my little Kodak point and shoot. This page has images of some of my favorite photos, all
taken with some variety of point and shoot camera.
I scanned these images from the original prints using a Microtek V310 flatbed scanner.
This page has thumbnails only. The thumbnails are linked to the full-size photo.
I took these pictures in Egypt in 1981 while I was in the seventh grade. I was living in Athens, Greece, at the time and went to Egypt with a group of other students from my school. For all of these, I used a 110 instamatic camera.
The first is of the Sphinx and two of the three Great Pyramids. (66 K)
The second is a photo of a sunset on the Nile River taken from downtown Cairo. (85 K)
The third picture is of a camel. I rode a camel while in Egypt, but it was not the one shown in this photo. (101 K)
The fourth picture is of a cat sleeping in a statue's "lap". I took this outside of the Papyrus institute in Cairo. (76 K)
I lived near Washington D.C. from 1981 until moving to Minnesota in 1993. This group of photos was taken in and around Washington during that time.
The first photo is of the Supreme Court building. I took this one from across the street, near the U.S. Capitol building, in October 1991. The wind was inconsitent that day, so I had to wait until the flag was blowing just right to get this shot. (119 K)
The second picture is of a statue on the mall side of the Capitol building. It was taken on the same day as the Supreme Court shot. (103 K)
The third photo is of the Vietnam Memorial. This is the statue of the three soliders looking toward the black, granite wall. I took this shot on Veterans' Day, 1986. There was a huge crowd there that day, and some folks had decorated the soldier on the left with a black armband and an MIA bracelet. (125 K)
The final shot is of the Capitol building from the Supreme Court side. (81 K)
First is a picture of the Burnside Bridge at the Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, Maryland. This is taken from the Confederate position where the Georgians held off the Union troops' crossing until they were overwhelmed. I took this picture with a Kodak one-time use camera. (177 K)
The second photo is of Memorial Stadium in Baltimore as seen from across 33rd Street. The Orioles, Colts and Ravens used to play there, as did Baltimore's CFL team. (55 K)
The third shot is of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home in Charlottesville, Virginia. I took this in February of 1993, which explains the snow on the ground. (71 K)
The fourth picture is from Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. It is of the American Flag, framed by bushes. The flag is near a large memorial arch. I took this shot just to the right of that arch. (66 K)
Why do we go ice fishing? One reason is because it allows us to spend some time on
beautiful Lake Mille Lacs. I was standing on the ice one evening in
February, 1999, when I took the shot of this sunset. The fish house where we stay is silhouetted
on the right.
(18 K)
The next shot is of the State Capitol building in St. Paul, Minnesota. I took this in July of 1992 during my honeymoon. I was still living in Baltimore at the time, but ended up moving to Minnesota less than a year later. (47 K)
The final picture is of a Minnesota sunset. This is a shot of a farm in Southeastern Minnesota on an evening in October 1998. (88 K)
The first shot is of our oldest cat, Bailey, enjoying the sunshine. (47 K)
Next is one of Scout and Eliza reclining on the sofa. (60 K)
The third picture is of Scout as a kitten. (26 K)
Finally, a shot of Duke, the farm dog. (152K)
