CQ CQ CQ, this is N0QK Calling CQ

Hello!

N0QK (use to be N0QKG) here! This page will be a work-in-progress, so please bear with me!

Like many aviators, I too enjoy ham radio. And I try and combine the two. In fact, in June of this year I combined aviation with ATV (amateur television) for the 2008 ARRL Field Day. Click on ATV to see my demo (give it a little time to load). When I aimed the aircraft towards the receive station, it was a "P5" video! You'll be able to see it for yourself as the picture becomes perfectly clear! And all on just 1.5 watts!

My entire family are "hams". My wife Helen is N0WYI. Our oldest son Rich is KB0VUP. Middle son Matt is KB0VYN, and Andy, our youngest is KC0GGI.

Every winter I head 100 miles north of Duluth MN and work as a volunteer for the John Beargrease Sled Dog Race. Talk about fun in the wilderness (in the Superior National Forest). This is a real test of emergency preparedness as you need to be self-sufficient for about 4 days and nights, in temps that can reach 50 below zero wind-chills! Should you happen to be in the area, look me up at "Sawbill Crossing Checkpoint". Or go to beargrease.com for details!

The first photo is my little 13' yellow camper. Nicknamed the "Bumblebee"! Next is me at 3:15 AM...sending in a report to "Net Control" located in Duluth MN about a team that had just arrived. The third photo is what it is really all about. The dogs! And finally...one musher arrives here at Sawbill.
