Poison dart frogs live in Central and South America, from Nicaragua and Costa Rica to southeastern Brazil and Bolivia. They live in tropical rainforests, sometimes on the ground in leaf litter. Some live high in the trees, usually about twenty feet in the air. Their toe and finger tips have adhesive pads so they can climb real well.
Some of them are also found in open areas, like savannahs. Others live on cocoa plantations where they feed on the flies that swarm around the rotting leaves.
