Poison dart frogs are colorful small to medium sized frogs that secrete poisons from glands in their skin. They are some of the most colorful amphibians. They live in Central and South America.

There are over 100 species of poison dart frog known already. Scientists discover new species frequently.

They range in size from a half-inch in length to about 2 inches long. Dendrobates minutus is one of the smallest frogs in the world.

They are social animals and can be raised in captivity. Unlike most frogs, they are active during the day.

They are very colorful. But they all have black eyes. They have feet just like tree frogs, with suction cups to help them climb slippery places.

Poison dart frogs are poisonous. But only a few of the poison dart frog species are poisonous enough to kill a person.

Because of their bright and varied colors, poison dart frogs are very popular animals.
